Topic: Windows 8 Overview & Enterprise DevOps

Harold Wong / Microsoft Chieive Technical Evangelist presents -

Now that Windows 8 has RTM’d, there has been a huge interest from everyone regarding the product.  In this 60 minute session, I will walk through the user experience of Windows 8 and how the new Windows 8 style UI works as well as the experience when running your “old, legacy” applications (i.e. the ones that you are using now).  I will also review some of the capabilities that come in the Windows 8 Pro version; such as Hyper-V.

Mike Vincent / MVA Software presents -

DevOps integrates development and operations for continuous delivery of software - and business value. The basic idea behind DevOps is that your development and operations strategies should reflect one another, and they should strive to optimize the whole IT process toward business objectives. DevOps has its roots in agile software development where producing potentially shippable increments of functional software each iteration is the objective. Actual release requires operations and development should work closely to smooth releases into production and streamline critical production issues. Cumbersome release processes can turn agile development efforts right back into a waterfall.

You’ll want to build a collection of agile development strategies which enable effective DevOps throughout the agile delivery lifecycle. In this session we will explore DevOps and what it takes for a pragmatic implementation including:

  • Deployment
  • Monitoring
  • Governance
  • Security
  • Non Functional Requirements
  • Cloud
  • Virtualization
  • Automation
  • AD/Group Policy/Access Control
